About Ujung Kulon National Park
Ujung Kulon is the oldest national park in Indonesia that has been officially recognized as one of the World Heritage protected by UNESCO in 1991, because its area covers a very large protected forest. Until now, approximately 50 to 60 rhinos live in this habitat. Ujung Kulon National Park is located on the Ujung Kulon Peninsula, the westernmost part of Java Island, Indonesia. The area of this national park has an area of approximately 122,956 Ha; (443 km² of which is sea), which starts from the isthmus of the Ujung Kulon Peninsula to the Indian Ocean. Ujung Kulon National Park has various types of wildlife, both endemic and important to protect.
In general, this area is still able to accommodate the breeding of various wildlife populations. [citation needed] In Ujung Kulon National Park there is one of the rare species in the world, namely the one-horned Javan rhinoceros. [4] In addition to the Javan rhinoceros (Rhinoceros sondaicus), there are also protected species such as the Javan Gibbon (Hylobates moloch), Surili (Presbytis aigula) and Jungle dog (Cuon alpinus javanicus). [citation needed] Ujung Kulon National Park has become the only habitat of the Javan rhinoceros. [5] Its population Ujung Kulon National Park has a variety of natural forests, including tropical rainforests, mangrove forests, and coastal forests. These forests are habitats for various types of flora and fauna, including the protected Javan rhinoceros. The combination of natural vegetation and diverse ecosystems makes Ujung Kulon National Park have extraordinary beauty.
This forest has various types of plants, including large trees, shrubs, and orchids. and the forest is still natural. Several types of plants are known to be rare and on the island of Java are only found in Ujung Kulon National Park, including: Batryohora geniculata, Cleidion spiciflorum, Heritiera percoriacea, and Knema globularia. There are also many types of plants that have been utilized by the community for woodworking, medicine, ornamental plants and food. Other types of flora and fauna: In addition to the Javan rhinoceros, Ujung Kulon National Park is also a habitat for various types of wild animals, such as banteng, wild boar, slow loris, various types of birds, primates, deer, and muntjac. Javan Rhino Habitat: As many as 32 thousand hectares of the Ujung Kulon area is a permanent habitat for the Javan rhinoceros, which is one of the protected animals in Indonesia.
